Nestled between the tranquil waters of Koggala Lake and the vast expanse of the Indian Ocean, The South offers a dual experience of coastal luxury through its two distinct yet harmoniously designed retreats. The South Beach, comprising 12 contemporary rooms, provides direct access to the shore, with an infinity pool that blurs the boundary between sea and sky and signature dining experiences at The Wavefront Restaurant and Cafe Wave.

In contrast, just across the road, The South Lake unfolds around a lush garden, offering 24 thoughtfully designed rooms, a spacious pool, a game room, and a relaxed bar atmosphere — all within a short walk from the beach. The beachside boutique hotel, once impacted by the 2004 tsunami, retains part of its original structure, now carefully renovated to reflect the architectural language of the overall resort. Emphasizing sensitivity to context, the design integrates locally sourced materials such as rattan, used in bedroom paneling to introduce texture, warmth, and a connection to regional craftsmanship. Together, these spaces embody a refined balance between relaxed tropical living and understated sophistication, reinforcing The South’s identity as a coastal sanctuary rooted in place.
