This urban multi-story dwelling offers a contemporary take on Jaffna-inspired domestic architecture, blending cultural, spiritual, and climatic sensitivity. The design is organized around a central courtyard that enhances natural ventilation and soft daylighting throughout the home. Vertical spatial hierarchy is reinforced by shrine rooms on both the ground and upper floors. Materials are chosen for performance and texture: wood floors insulate the upper levels, while cement and granite provide durability at ground level.
A rear courtyard garden expands the usable living space and provides a peaceful retreat from the surrounding urban density. Passive cooling is achieved through skylights, deep overhangs, and ventilation cut-outs. The landscape design is minimal yet purposeful, with native plantings framing quiet courtyard and garden spaces within the city.
